Frequently asked questions
Answers are shown below each question.
What is InTrainSim?
InTrainSim, operated by TechAnagha LLP, offers Indian routes and DLCs for Train Simulator Classic (RailWorks) on Windows PC. The ITS App helps you set up and install your InTrainSim content.
Is InTrainSim the same platform as IndianTrainSim?
Yes. InTrainSim.com is the official home of the platform previously known as IndianTrainSim.com.
What do I need to use InTrainSim routes and DLCs?
You’ll need Train Simulator Classic (RailWorks) installed on a Windows PC. ITS routes and DLCs won’t work without the game. Before purchasing, we recommend trying a free add-on through the ITS App to check that your setup works. Some products also use particular routes, trains, coaches or other assets, so check the product page before choosing an add-on.
Can I use current InTrainSim add-ons on a phone or Android device?
InTrainSim’s current routes and DLCs are for Train Simulator Classic on Windows PC. Our upcoming NextGen game is planned for PC first, with a phone/Android version planned for later.
How do I install the ITS App and my add-ons?
Install the ITS App from the Microsoft Store. The app checks for your Train Simulator Classic installation and helps connect it to your InTrainSim content. Once set up, the app installs supported content in the right game folders, so you don’t need to move files by hand. If you haven’t installed Train Simulator Classic yet, the ITS App guides you to select its RailWorks folder or visit its Steam page before setup continues.
What are Pure ITS and Standard Mode?
Products marked Pure ITS use the ITS App to enable their supported ITS features. Start Train Simulator Classic through the ITS App to use those features. Products marked Standard support a compatible game launch method while the activated ITS App remains available in the background. Some products support both modes. Check each product’s badges and details.
Are InTrainSim routes and DLCs free?
InTrainSim offers paid routes and DLCs, along with free scenarios for users. Products and routes can include up to 25 free scenarios. Each listing shows what comes with that item, including its requirements.
Why does a scenario list other routes or trains?
Scenarios are made for particular routes and rolling stock. The scenario page shows the content you’ll need, so you can check that you have it before downloading. ITS scenarios use rolling stock sold on the InTrainSim website. Creator-made scenarios may list their own requirements. An ITS scenario appears in the ITS App only when you own and have installed its required ITS add-ons. In the ITS App, open a scenario card’s Info button to see its requirements.
What scenarios does InTrainSim provide?
ITS scenarios are created by the ITS team for ITS users as a complimentary service. They use rolling stock sold on the InTrainSim website. Product and route pages show related scenarios and their requirements.
Why can I see a scenario on the website but not in the ITS App?
The ITS App shows a scenario when you own and have installed all its required ITS add-ons. Some scenarios need more than one train or coach. On the scenario page, an X means the scenario is not available in the app yet. Get and install the official required add-ons. When the page shows a green check mark, the scenario should appear in the ITS App. Check the scenario’s Info button for its full requirements.
Why do ITS scenarios use ITS rolling stock?
ITS scenarios are created by the ITS team for ITS users as a complimentary service. They use rolling stock sold on the InTrainSim website. ITS does not provide scenarios that require third-party add-ons.
How do I play a scenario?
If the scenario is available in the ITS App, click Install. Keep the ITS App active in the background. Then start Train Simulator Classic, find the scenario you installed in the scenario list, and click Play. If a scenario lists third-party add-ons as requirements, make sure you have those too.
How do I install a scenario?
Find the scenario in the ITS App and click Install. Before installing, open its Info button and check that you have all the required routes, coaches and other add-ons. Some scenarios need more than one item of rolling stock. Keep the ITS App active in the background while you play.
How do I find ITS coaches and locomotives in the scenario editor?
In the Train Simulator Classic editor, open Object Set Filter from the second menu on the left. In the provider dropdown on the right, select IGS → IndianRail, then check all the boxes. ITS coaches and locomotives should now appear in the list. Keep the ITS App active in the background.
Can I create scenarios for ITS routes and products?
Absolutely! Feel at home creating scenarios for ITS routes and products with your own trains and coaches. You’re free to publish your work on the platform you choose, and you don’t need ITS approval. For the best compatibility with ITS routes, start the game through the ITS App. Trains or coaches that need a different app to launch the game may not work with an ITS route.
What do Coming Soon, Discontinued and Final mean?
Coming Soon is a preview of a product being prepared for release. Discontinued means the product is no longer available for new users to purchase. If you already own a Discontinued product, you’ll continue receiving updates until it reaches Final. Final means development is complete, so no further updates or changes are planned for that product.
What is InTrainSim NextGen / Project Unreal?
NextGen, also called Project Unreal, is InTrainSim’s upcoming standalone Indian railway simulation game, being developed with Unreal Engine 5. It is separate from today’s Train Simulator Classic routes and DLCs. The plan is to release on PC first, followed by phones/Android later.
When will NextGen be available?
The NextGen page currently gives a tentative target of May 2027 for the first demo. Development plans can change, so check that page for the latest updates. You can sign in there to express interest in the project.
Where can I get help or find InTrainSim’s social channels?
We’re happy to help! Discord is our preferred support channel. Email support is also available during working hours. WhatsApp support is currently limited and is being phased out. The Contact page has current support information and links to our official Discord, Instagram and YouTube.
What should I check before I buy?
Take a look at the product description, requirements, status and included content. We also recommend watching available product videos and reading customer reviews. That way, you can choose the products and routes that are right for you.
Are product updates free?
Yes. Product updates are free while a product is in development. When it is marked Final, development is complete and no further updates or changes are planned.
What makes InTrainSim good value?
InTrainSim brings Indian routes and DLCs together with automated installation, free scenarios for users, and free product updates while products are in development. Check each listing to see its content, requirements and current development status, then choose what suits you.
Why does a scenario show an error?
Check the scenario’s Info button for all its requirements. Some scenarios need several ITS trains or coaches, and creator-made scenarios may list third-party add-ons too. A missing route update can also cause an error, especially with an older scenario. Install the listed add-ons, make sure the route is up to date, and keep the ITS App active in the background while you play. If the error continues, contact support with the scenario name and a screenshot of the message.
How do I fix a Broken Consists error?
The error message usually names the missing add-on. Check that you own and have installed the named train or coach, then check the scenario’s requirements for any other missing items. If everything is installed and the error remains, contact support with a screenshot of the message and the scenario name.
How do I fix an Out of Memory error?
Check that your PC meets the recommended Train Simulator Classic system requirements. You can also try lower graphics settings and close other programs before starting the scenario again. Out of Memory is a general game error with several possible causes, including the game or the PC, so these steps may not resolve every case. If it continues, contact support with the scenario name and a screenshot of the error.
How do I start the ITS App to play a scenario?
Open the ITS App from the Windows Start menu and sign in. Keep the app active in the background while you play. To use Pure ITS features, start Train Simulator Classic through the ITS App. If you plan to play with a third-party launcher, select ITS + FLG in the ITS App first.
Where can I get a required third-party add-on?
Visit the website or platform of the creator who made it. Scenario details include the third-party add-on requirements; ITS routes that use third-party assets also provide links to the relevant creators. The creator’s own page has the latest information about getting and installing their add-on.
Can ITS fix a scenario error caused by an add-on I don’t have?
We’re happy to help you check the ITS App and the scenario’s requirements. To play the scenario, you’ll first need to get and install every listed add-on from its creator. The scenario page’s Info button is a good place to start.
What should I know about routes that use third-party assets?
Some routes use assets made by other creators. The route description provides links to those creators, so you can review their add-ons and availability. Installing the listed assets helps the route work as intended. We recommend reading the full route description before purchasing so you can get everything ready for the experience you want.
Should I install the ITS App before buying an add-on?
Yes, we recommend installing the ITS App from the Microsoft Store first. It helps you confirm your Train Simulator Classic setup and shows you how your content is installed. This is a great way to get familiar with the app and check product requirements before purchasing.
Does InTrainSim offer free add-ons and routes?
Yes! The ITS App includes free add-ons and free routes, as well as free scenarios for users. Some free routes are available only in the ITS App and aren’t listed on the website. Open the app to explore the free content available to you.
Can I get a refund if I change my mind about a product?
Please take a moment to read product details, requirements and reviews, and watch any available YouTube videos before purchasing. InTrainSim products are delivered digitally, so purchases are generally final once access is provided. Our Return and Refund Policy explains the limited refund situations and applicable customer rights.
What if a product or route is still being completed?
Some products are works in progress and receive free updates until they’re marked Final. Completing a large route or product can take time, sometimes a year or longer. Check its product page for development status and updates. You can also contact the creator listed in the description during their stated support hours.
Where can I find the route owner’s contact information?
The product description includes contact information for the route owner. Please reach out during the support hours they provide, and they’ll be glad to help with questions about their route.
What PC specifications do I need?
The ITS App and InTrainSim add-ons don’t have separate PC specifications. Your computer should meet the requirements for Train Simulator Classic. Steam recommends 64-bit Windows 10 or later, an Intel Core i5-4690 or AMD Ryzen 7 1700 (or better), 16 GB RAM, and a GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon RX 480 with 4 GB dedicated graphics memory (or better). Allow at least 40 GB for the game, plus extra space for add-ons. Laptop and integrated graphics may work, but Steam does not support them.
Can I use my products on another PC?
Yes. You can remove or reset your registered system up to six times per year, and only one system can be active for your account at a time. On the InTrainSim website, sign in and go to Profile → Manage Systems. Remove the currently listed system, then sign in to the ITS App on your new PC. If you have a genuine need for another reset after using the six yearly changes, open a support ticket and tell us why you need an additional system change. The support form fills in the basic details for you.
Can I use the ITS App when the server is down?
Yes. The ITS App can switch to Smart Offline automatically, so you don’t need to change a setting. First sign in while you’re online. After that, you can use offline access for up to seven days; connect to the internet again before that period ends to sign in and refresh access.
My purchase isn’t showing up in the ITS App. What should I do?
First, check that you received the purchase confirmation email. Then sign in to the InTrainSim website and open Profile → My Library. If the product is there, your purchase is confirmed. In the ITS App, check that you’re signed in to the same InTrainSim account used for the purchase.
I installed an add-on but can’t see it in the game. What should I check?
The game may be starting from a different RailWorks folder than the one the ITS App uses. Try starting Train Simulator Classic through the ITS App so it opens the game from the folder where your add-ons were installed. To check the folder, open Settings in the ITS App. Under Game Path, choose Open Game Folder. If the add-on is still missing, record the issue and email the video to support@intrainsim.com, or join our Discord and share your screen in the help section.
